Preserving the charm of the chapel whilst converting it for modern life

This former chapel schoolhouse in a small village in Somerset was extended and re-modelled to provide a beautiful family home. A planning condition stipulated matching external finishes for the new built extension, so salvaged materials were used where possible. Where new materials were introduced, e.g. the rooftiles to the rear, great effort was made to match the existing chapel. The interiors are simple and understated to allow the original features such as the leaded windows, exposed stone and altar joinery to shine.
